He's doing it again!

My darling son got up this morning and walked to the TV/DVD/stereo stuff and proceeded to turn everything on and then sat in the lounge chair in the living room waiting for a movie. He threw a fit about my not turning it on. I turned on the radio instead and set up0 breakfast. He didn't want his bowl, threw it across the room in fact. So no breakfast for him. Then he threw another tantrum. So I sat in the lounge chair with him for a minute to calm him down (not immediately, I let him try to calm down on his own) Now he's trying to wake up his sister, and has in fact succeeded, so I'm out of time for this blog. Now he's screaming and so is she. What a great start to my day! And while we'll have some fun today too, I am dreading the series of tantrums it will take to have any fun. All fun ends in a tantrum. And no matter how I try to ignore them, he persists. He in fact gets louder. and louder. And then he screams. And then he hits or bites me. He will make sure he gets my attention, and it is always a negative experience. I love him very much, but I wish he would listen to what I say, as in, "Stop, that's not yours, or DONT WAKE THE BABY!!!! or don't touch, etc. Instead, no matter how many times I set a boundary, he pushes right past it and throws a tantrum when I say no. I don't ever give in, and I don't ever let him win with a tantrum, but it still never stops. I try to make sure there's lots of yes in his day too, but that gets hard too. Redirecting rarely worked when he was toddler, and it doesn't work now either.
